19 Sep Social Video Marketing Strategy
Wake Up and Smell…
…video marketing! Video on the web. We’ve all seen it. But, have you noticed how widespread it’s become?
Everywhere you turn, there’s a video something – there’s the new “Facebook Live,” there’s YouTube that’s become the #2 search engine in the world, every app has video, and before you get to watch or read the story you want to on a newspaper or TV website, there’s a video pre-roll that you have no choice but to sit through.
And, that’s just what’s happening today.
But someone let the video dogs out and they’re running hard and wide. By the time you read this, they’re probably knocking on your door, too.
Do we need to establish a video marketing strategy?
That’s the big question most of the business we talk to are asking themselves. The truth of the matter is this: If you haven’t, you’d better. Soon.
Remember when someone said to you, “Hey, are you doing anything on social media?” or “Are you doing anything on mobile”? and you went “Hmm.”? And, in what seemed like a nano-second, everyone you saw had their face in their phone or spending endless hours “liking” and “friending” people, places, and things.
Video marketing is in that same precious – and precarious – place. Strategically done, it can be a goldmine. Recklessly done, it’s a rabbit hole. Here’s some proof:
Using videos in email marketing has been shown to double click-through rates.
71% of marketers say that video conversion rates consistently outperform other marketing content.
Audiences are 10x more likely to engage with video content — embed, share, or comment — more than text-only blogs or related social posts.

Having an impactful video Simply put, a great video gets into a person’s mind in more ways than an image or a bunch of text can.
If we may…

The video cat’s pretty much out of the bag and, who knows, but the guy across the street may have this in his playbook by now. Here’s why we say that…

Right now, consumer internet video traffic is around 65%. According to a report released by CISCO, that will grow to 80% by 2019. That’s just a couple of marketing seasons away.
Don’t press pause, but do take a breath.
Video marketing is somewhere that every business needs to be, but this is not like being a week away from the prom and you have to lose 20 pounds. Nonetheless, if your marketing is out of shape compared to the rest of the world, you do need to make a change for the better.
